God-centered, Bible Focused, To the Glory of God!
Women in Action – Glorifying God!
Theme Verses and Explanation – 1 Peter 4:8-11 (NASB)
8Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. 9Be hospitable to one another without complaint. 10As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
These verses give us a good biblical perspective on our mission's statement of the women’s ministry. When we attempt to teach the soul, our Bible studies should be just that: biblical. This gives us the authority to teach as if God Himself is speaking (vs 11a). Showing love is both how we encourage the family and what we encourage them to have for each other (vs 8). As we provide opportunities to serve by “Equip the Hand”, we are reminded that God provides the strength, and when we serve, we do so as good stewards to please God Himself (vs 10-11). With our fourth goal, we practice hospitality each time we meet. Really, it is the opportunity for us as a group to go from being strangers to friends as we meet each others’ needs both physically and emotionally. Our attitude makes all the difference (vs 9). Ultimately, we are reminded that accomplishing our goals is not just to benefit us, but to glorify God (vs. 11). God’s glory is the reason for our ministry! This ties us back to our church’s overall goals to be: God centered, Bible-focused, to the glory of God.
